IMPACTING GUATEMALAN STUDENTS THROUGH HEALTH PROMOTION AND EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES

Team Bisett Bakery (Mark and Donette) is participating in Shared Beat’s Cook to Share virtual cooking contest. This year’s theme is global cuisine, the world on your table! In addition to sharing a delicious recipe from our Texas roots, we are fundraising to continue Shared Beat’s health prevention and education programs to students living in the Guatemala City dump area. Please give us a big Texas "Yee-Haw" by voting for our recipe through a donation. Thanks in advance for sharing your heart with others ❤️

TEXAS WHISKEY PECAN APPLE COBBLER (because pecans, whiskey and apples are southern comfort) Recipe by Jack Gilmore and Jessica Dupuy

Cobbler Ingredients:

8-10 green apples, peeled, cored and slices into 1/4-inch pieces (we use Granny Smith apples)

3/4 cup brown sugar

1 tsp. cinnamon

1/4 tsp. nutmeg

1 tsp. vanilla ( we use a little more!)

2 Tbsp. Texas Whiskey (we use

1 cup Texas pecans, chopped

Streusel Ingredients:

8 oz. chilled butter, cut into pieces

1 cup sugar

1 cup brown sugar

3 cups all-purpose flour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees, and spray a 10-12 inch round cast iron skillet with cooking spray or rub with oil. Toss apples with sugar, spices, vanilla and TEXAS whiskey. Place apples in skillet, top evenly with pecans and set aside.

For streusel topping, in a large bowl using two forks, mix and mash up butter with sugars and flour until crumbly and loose. Pour over apples. Bake for approximately 45 minutes until evenly browned. Tip: Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Hope you all enjoy this delicious taste of Texas!
